My i3 purchase experience and Mystery down payment

i'm not exactly sure why dealers do this but in a couple of cases when I bought a car, the finance dept. inflated the "purchase" price but then increased the discount so that the bottom line was what we agreed to. Maybe it has something to do with not reporting a "reduced" purchase price...

New to me 17' Rex questions

Fifty miles on a fully charged '17 is too low. Depending on temp, speed, wind, etc, should be at least 80-90. Look at the sticker on the driver's side door jamb to make sure of the date of manufacturer, or run the VIN on one of the web based VIN search tools. If it's really a '17, I recommend...

That sounds intriguing. Can you go into more detail or link a website with more info?

Please educate me on how "adaptive" regen works

Some EV's (Bolt, Leaf) have more than one regen mode whereby the amount of regen can be more or less aggressive. According to my limited understanding, regen is produced as the magnet in the electric motor (rotor) is turned by the wheel, and produces a force in opposite direction to the wheel...

Converting BMW 2002 to electric using i3 parts

I hate to be a "negative Nancy" but that's a quite challenging project. As you probably know, a 2002 can be a collector car. You might want to restore the 2002, sell it, and buy a new i3. Just a thought.

Has anyone reached 0% battery while the Rex was running.

Mine ran down to around 4% and the power dropped so that I could only go about 40 mph max. The Rex was able to charge it up to around 6% at which time full power returned.

    EVgo CCS woes

I've had 100% success with EVgo if the ambient temp is less than 90 F or so. 0% success if it's hotter than that.

    New Owner from Denver!

According to this website https://www.pluglesspower.com/learn/tesla-model-s-charging-home-public-autonomously/ most Teslas can take 11.5 KW. At 240 volts, that's about 48 amps. My guess is you'd need to install a 60 amp breaker with associated wiring for 60 amps (to be safe) if you want to...

    New Owner from Denver!

A BMW branded EVSE doesn't mean anything to me. I'd be surprised if BMW actually made it. From what I can tell it's a 30 amp EVSE (maybe 32). Original cost is around $1270, so 30% would be around $380. I guess the question is what would a JB or CC 30 amp unit cost? And is a 30 amp charger...
