    Car alarm - false alarms

Same experience here. I own a software development company, we write a lot of GPS tracking software. To generate live data for testing, occasionally I plug one of our commercial cellular trackers (same ones used by UPS) into the OBD port before I leave the house. When I get to the office, if I...

Ruffles - yes, you need a token. You can poke around a bit in the settings without a token if you're just curious, but you can't save your changes without it.

    Coding the i3

A few days ago I coded the "Enable Hold State-Of-Charge" setting. Not only does it work like a champ, but the screen this unlocks on the iDrive displays the SOC in a digital format (xxx.x %). This solves another one of my pet peeves, the 4-Idiot-Blocks default display of SOC remaining. Using the...

i3ATL - Good call! I just went down to the garage and tried it, taking care to make sure my foot was off the brake. With my foot off the brake, CLICK-CLICK shuts down both the car and the media system immediately. Thanks for the tip. I'll be using it every day from now on...or at least until...

Hmmm. I tried clicking START/STOP twice as per your suggestions. This did not have the desired result, it simply turned the car off and then back on again.

US i3 Rex dangerous when climbing hills

A road near my house ascends 6500 vertical feet (1981m) in 21 miles (33.7 Km), with no level or downhill sections. It goes up, up, up. No downhill sections where the ReX can get some "breathing room" to charge the batteries. As an experiment I drove it today, leaving my house with very little...

    Coding the i3

Getting back to the subject at hand, does anybody have any info about the location of the coding registers for the delay in powering down the media system after the car is shut off? After I power down my i3, the media system takes about 6 or 8 minutes to shut down. I'd like to change that to...

/HU_EntryNAV /3001 EXBOX /FUNKTIONEN /LEGAL_DISCLAIMERTIME /AUSGELESEN = KEIN_ID I originally set the LEGAL_DISCLAIMERTIME value (WERTE) from 0D to 00 hoping that would make it go away. It succeeded temporarily, but the warning came back the next day. I re-read the WERTE register and found a...

/3000 HMI /FUNKTIONEN /DOOR_LOCK_AFTER_DRIVING_AWAY /AUSGELESEN = NICHT_AKTIV /WERTE=01 This puts the choice to enable / disable the drive-away locking into the iDrive, as our European friends have in their iDrive by default.

Screw Facebook. Never touch the thing. Here are the register locations for disabling the seatbelt warning: /ACSM2 /CAFD_000011AB_005_001_011 /CAF [ACSM-4l] /DATEN /3001 /FUNKTIONEN /SEATBELT_REMINDER_FAHRER (seatbelt reminder, driver) /AUSGELESEN = NICHT_AKTIV also...

So fellow coding fans.....what features would you hack first if you had the complete API documentation for your i3? Here are my Top 5: 1) Disable safety disclaimer on the iDrive display upon startup. OK BMW, I've read your disclaimer. I understand it. I've confirmed that I understand it. I...

Annoying Things I Hate After 3 Weeks With My New i3 ReX

Perhaps I wasn't clear. My i3 does indeed remember the thermostat setting (i.e. 76 degrees). But the only way to shut off the HVAC completely is to set the fan speed to zero. This is what the car doesn't remember. No matter how many times you set the fan speed to zero, turning the car off and...

Annoying Things I Hate After 3 Weeks With My New i3 ReX

JeffJ - I researched this and it turns out you are correct. I've got a "Mega". Don't I feel (a) like an idiot and (b) somewhat duped. I looked at the build pages on the BMW web site and there is nothing about Comfort Access. But buried in the trim level information on another part of the web...

Annoying Things I Hate After 3 Weeks With My New i3 ReX

Uh..."dude" (ultraturtle) .....I DID take advantage of those tax credits. About 4 years ago. And with MECO charging over 40 cents per kWh, the panels have already paid for themselves. The i3 charges for free, from solar, so you can please go "strongly urge" somebody else.

Annoying Things I Hate After 3 Weeks With My New i3 ReX

The drive train on this car is an engineering tour de force, but the software and usability is just atrocious. Here are ten things I hate so far (Note - some of these have been previously mentioned by others in other threads): 1. Climate control won't stay off. Every time I turn the car on, I...
