    REX and Green decals application

Mine got kicked back because the car isn't in the system yet (submitted with VIN but no plate number). Been 3 weeks since the purchase. The clock is ticking and it isn't looking good...

BMW Extended Warranty, Glass, Tire/Wheel Offerings?

fwiw, I bought an extended warranty for my R1200GS back in '08. It expires Jun 2015 and was $1K. Two weeks ago I had the ABS light come on. It was due for some other service so I took it to my dealer. Turns out the ABS module was dead and it needed a new one. Parts and labor for that was $2K -...

Car & Driver Magazine "Air Conditioner is miserable"

My complaint is the vent placement. Excellent for cooling your hands while on the steering wheel. One disadvantage to a low dash.

US i3 Rex dangerous when climbing hills

I'm still not convinced about ditching my ICE but would love to be turned. We are in the honeymoon phase with the i3 (wife's car), and I'm seriously considering swapping out my X1 lease and getting into a second i3 - but I don't see how it would do 300 mile days without either luck/planning (and...

    Born Electric finally Sept 4th

My wife is on day 3 of lifeElectric with her orange Rex and she loves it. Commuting has never been so peaceful - between the quiet and the ACC.

Advice on what options to purchase

We just picked up my wife's car today. Rex, Giga, Tech, 20" wheels, heated seats. That was about the spec we were looking for and they had one coming in so it was a good fit. Reasoning: Rex - my wife's commute is 66 miles round trip. Within range of the BEV, but pushing it with side trips. No...

I managed to get a discount on the BMW i3...

We got a bit over $2K off without haggling, and a painless and fairly quick process all things considered. We could have gotten a ton off a fully loaded Rex that they had but we stuck with the original spec. She picks up the car today. Turns out there is no one to PDI a car on Labor Day - though...

    i3 Software Update (USA)

My bad. Now if you'll excuse me I need to see my dealer...I mean Amateur Pharmaceutical Distribution Representative since this whole episode has left me stressed out. I better call my salesman to...uh, I mean Client Advisor.

    i3 Software Update (USA)

My wife's car is at the Oxnard distribution center right now and they are supposedly doing the software update before it gets loaded on the truck to my dealer.

I managed to get a discount on the BMW i3...

My CA gave $2K off the top without me asking (I'm a repeat customer though), and the new residuals make the lease reasonable and seemingly a bit less convoluted than the owner's choice. I think the OC was a way to try and get a decent payment in the face of low residuals. Now he just has to get...

Sirius/XM Radio for Mega World cars

I believe the dealer is mistaken. With my X1 sat radio was a port-installed option that I believe was hardware and software changes. May be the same with the i3 - the Mega is "pre-wired" and requires a hardware module install (?) along with software changes. It shouldn't be $800 though -...

Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go is "The BOMB"!

We decided to get the tech package for my wife's car and I think she'll like it from all the reports. My CA lobbied for it, and commuting in LA can be horrific at times. I remember a few years back it took me 2+ hours to go 8 miles on surface streets due to a few accidents at the wrong place at...

with a 66 mile work commute...

Well, decision made. Have a Rex en-route, just waiting to hear when it will get to the dealer. Should be fun. And as a bonus, I finally got my X1 back from the body shop after a 2+ week stay. Was rear ended early Aug. That was festive...

get a REx, no need for fast DC?

So in my other thread someone mentioned that Rex kinda makes the fast DC not as necessary. I may have found a car that is close to the desired spec but it doesn't have fast DC (it is a Rex). I originally was thinking that fast DC option would help future proof, but currently it is certainly not...

with a 66 mile work commute...

Have to admit I keep going back and forth. The price and simplicity of the BEV is nice, especially the simplicity. That said, my OCD would work perfectly for a BEV but my wife is much less manic. Seems like the Rex is the safer option. If the BEV was over 100 mile range it would be a little...

with a 66 mile work commute...

Took my wife to test drive and she gave the thumbs up. This one was a Rex and I didn't really notice a huge performance hit. I think we're going to go that direction since we know she'll have a regularly longish commute and not having to worry about side trips will be worth the extra $ and...

with a 66 mile work commute...

We have another car for long trips so that isn't a concern. Cold weather isn't either, though it does sometimes get down into the frigid 50s here :D. That said, Valencia (destination) gets hot (100+) and cold (30s). I get the feeling that the rex is the "safety blanket" - have to figure out the...

with a 66 mile work commute...

Would you go Rex or regular i3? My wife's commute is 66 miles round trip, no charging station at her work. Other trips are mostly around town (Santa Monica) so no stretch there. Seems like running in eco mode the commute should be no problem on the i3 and enable a few errands along the way...
