Buyer's Remorse - Range Disappointments Continue

I've seen the % drop when left as well. What happens if you're running on REx (and battery at, say, 5%) and you park up and lose 5%? Does the REx just go mental trying whack charge into the battery or is there some charge state where the REx won't play? Have to say I've not measured the % drop...

Knowing what you know now. Would you do it all over again?

This is my first EV and my first BMW and hell will freeze over before I go back to ICE. BMW seem fine as well. The car is superb - exactly suits my needs and is the first car I've actually enjoyed driving. Apart from one glitch, it's been trouble free. However, the glitch was fairly dramatic...

    Range Indicator

I don't think it can be reset. At least, I've not found a way to do so.

    Range Indicator

It is cold weather so range will be lower than at other times of the year. That said, my REx seems to predict 64-68 miles at the moment. But the last time I did a long trip I covered 60 motorway miles (faster always saps the battery) and it was predicting 15 remaining. The lowest I've had it...

    Cold weather

78 down to 54 certainly seems a lot. Mine's down but I don't know how much as the s/w upgrade changed things a lot (and made forecasts more pessimistic). A 60 mile trip I do on the motorway leaves me with between 8 and 16 miles (depending on mode, use of heating, speed, etc). In the Summer I...

    Auto wiper sensitivity

Yeah, it's a bit crap, really. I'm used to never having to use the manual settings but with the i3 you end up peering through a sheet of water if you try that. Is this a BMW thing? It seems manufacturers have their own particular useless function that they perpetuate iteration after iteration...

Locked into "park" mode while moving

Worrying. Not a fault I've encountered, fortunately. I did once inflict something similar on myself - pressed the parking brake button instead of eco button while driving along. It tried to slam the anchors on but, I think, was over-ridden by the fact I was accelerating.

REx "quality" recall and s/w update

@Woodland Hills: I think the BMW training is not bad, really. When I was waiting for UK deliveries (and my order) to start, I happened to be staying in a hotel next to BMW's UK training academy. As well as watching them driving i3s around the place I also got to chat to a couple of the...

REx "quality" recall and s/w update

Just had BMW on the phone to book my car in for a non-safety recall - inspect the REx spline[1] and do a s/w update. It'll take 3 days! So some fairly major dismantling, I imagine. Asked her about the KLE but she knew nothing about it. Anyone else had this recall? [1] I know nothing about how...

Pro Sat Nav - one thing the brochure doesn't tell you...

Being a Brit but not being a south paw means that the "handwriting recognition" is useless to me! "Scribble" is the word whenever I've tried it.

Preconditioning seems to overheat the cabin

When I was running the original early s/w, the preconditioning seemed to do bugger all. A slight warming, at best. Now it heatsoaks the cabin and melts ice. Fantastic. But you do need to remember to turn it off if you're parked off-grid - unless you're happy to have a good few miles of range...

Loss of 15% Range with Update to HMI 02.03.03

I received my car on the 1st March - and it was still pretty chilly then. A fair few frosty mornings and a couple of drives in cold sleety/snow. But the predicted ranges were higher than they are now - and it seems much warmer. I have a few scribbled notes on some of the early trips: Start...

Loss of 15% Range with Update to HMI 02.03.03

Where do I find the "max battery capacity" info?

Loss of 15% Range with Update to HMI 02.03.03

I have a very early i3 which was upgraded in August to version x (how do I find which version I have?) - and the predicted range took a real bashing. However, the *actual* range still seems to be there. Certainly, I did one trip with a predicted 70 mile range and arrived home having driven 80...

    Range Suprise: First real trip

I did a similar trip the other day. 69 miles with 21 predicted remaining = 80 miles. *However*, the REx menu showed that I had 31% of battery charge remaining - which would imply 31 miles remaining and 100 miles total. The range predictor was seriously pessimistic throughout the journey. At...

    Update on KLE replacement problem

How do you know you need a new KLE (whatever that is)? I may have had a replacement when the car was taken away on a flat bed following total failure (see other thread!). In recap - the car totally died on the road. Nothing worked and it seemed as if the 12v was dead - certainly, jumping...

    Range Suprise: First real trip

I posted on another thread that I'd thought the range (predicted, at least) seems reduced since the s/w update. Obviously, I'm not the only one to have noticed this so maybe it's not in my imagination!

Loss of settings following software upgrade

Mine was upgraded recently and some settings were lost while others were retained. I've noted a few other changes since the upgrade (but they may be imaginary!) - heating seems much hotter and happy to really blast out - range seems more sensitive to heating (which may be related to previous...

Activating a left turn traffic signal....?not

The perennial problem for cyclists - traffic sensors don't detect a bike and after a while you get fed up watching nothing happening and have to blast through on red. I'd briefly wondered of a primarily carbon structured i3 would suffer a similar fate at the lights - but so far it hasn't. Which...

help! stuck by road with dead i3

Got car back yesterday - all appears well. The garage said that it was a problem with the cable lock-in mechanism. I'm not so sure if that's accurate - but then I was speaking to the service manager rather than the bloke who'd actually done the work. I pretty much fully expected a few glitches...
