Anyone else having issues with BMW connect App not working?

I’m in Canada, and myBMW rarely works for me for sending commands (it’s ok for reporting status) if the car is in my driveway and I’m communicating from inside the house. I’ve tried being on Wifi or cell. If I am away from the house and say head into a store and try it using cellular then it...

    Tuning Range Extender? 28kW -> 32,5kW?

I believe that it was tuned up a bit to give more power in the newer models. At least this was the impression I got from Tom's Blog and from David Bricknell (the UK fellow who wrote the great i3 book). Also, even though it would be desirable sometimes to have more REX power, keep in mind that...

Video input to display screen (mirror iPhone screen)?

Yes thanks for that. The main motivation (for the original post on this thread) is for iPhone map apps and not for looking at videos while moving which is of course dangerous. What is "MB"?

Video input to display screen (mirror iPhone screen)?

Sometimes it is just wanting to accomplish something that as a techie seems neat to do, or to have a feature that you think should be there (aux video in) but one application is to use the iPhone's native maps app or to use Waze (3rd part map app) even though the BMW already has Nav...

Video input to display screen (mirror iPhone screen)?

Not sure what you are talking about. My car is already coded. Coding only gives you the ability to play certain video file formats and a whole bunch of other unrelated things. What I'm trying to do here, is get direct input to the screen, so that I can mirror my iPhone to the screen. That is not...

Video input to display screen (mirror iPhone screen)?

I'm coded and have video. Not sure about sfontaine. Thanks, I will look a that Bimmertech product. Bimmertech did say that they don't have experience with the i3 and that there are 3 types of LVDS although they were pretty sure which one it would be.

Video input to display screen (mirror iPhone screen)?

Don't have my USB stick with my test videos on it, with me right now. If I remember I will check and report back tonight or tomorrow. I would think there is another thread relevant to this subject though. We've gone a bit off-topic.

Video input to display screen (mirror iPhone screen)?

Yes it can play videos off of the USB when parked and I've got it coded so it plays while moving. It's also coded to play a bunch of different video formats. I'm in Canada, but I don't think it is any different in the US. Anyway, sounds like no one has added any hardware and hacked the system...

Video input to display screen (mirror iPhone screen)?

I'm starting a new thread, as my quick searches found nothing here in the forum. Has anyone tapped into the in-car center display screen? Ideally I'd like to be able to mirror my iPhone to the center screen. Searching the internet, I see some people who have done this for other BMWs but not...

    Pandora

A few of the apps or functions will give you this response if you use Siri from the steering wheel. However, if you activate Siri fro the phone directly with the home button, then Siri will do what you ask. Of course that is a pain though and more dangerous. When I get in the car I sometimes...

Universal snap-in adapter for all current Apple iPhones

Do you mean you don't have the snap in adapter in your US i3s? I just bought a 2015 i3 here in Canada, and I have a snap in adapter and what looks like connections to it. Does this mean I can buy an adapter for my iPhone6 for it? ...Roger

Winter Tires - CAUTION: DON'T MAKE THIS MISTAKE

I assume the i3 here uses the TPMS sensors like many other newer cars in Canada. I know there are some cars that do it based on other means like in my Mini Cooper a Clubman but most use TPMS I thought.

Winter Tires - CAUTION: DON'T MAKE THIS MISTAKE

Thanks, but that's not my question. My question is if you can stick with the staggered rims (5" and 5.5") and mount the one size 155/70 R19s winters on both those size rims. The first post seemed to indicate that is what he did. Someone in the FB group also mentioned having done that. Yup we're...

Winter Tires - CAUTION: DON'T MAKE THIS MISTAKE

That's crazy! However, I just wanted to confirm then that it is possible to mount the winter tires on both the front 5" and the back 5.5" rims?, as I've read some conflicting things about that. I presume that is true for either the Nokians or the Blizzaks (?). Did you bother with TPMS...
