Rattling glove box lid! (Any ideas on how to tighten?)

Had same issue on our 2015 i3. Used a bit of silicone lube along edge of glovebox door. It has been several years without rattle/buzz. Cheap fix.

    Oil change in REX

I change my cabin air filter every 3 years. You can remove yours and examine it to determine iits condition. (See online videos.) I vacuum mine once after 2 years then replace after 3. We drive about 12,000 km/yr and live in a large city (Toronto) with some air pollution. I change REx oil every...

Oil and filter change at home

I have an Autel MD802 code reader that allows me to input new dates for various types of service. Your procedure appears easier than using a code reader. I use a pen and the blank pages at the back of the owners manual to keep track of service. Old fashioned but very easy. Dealer in Toronto...

2017 i3 spare Key fob "lazy" after battery replacement

Never mind. Had a few defective batteries that were "new" purchased from a dollar store. Fortunately I kept changing them until I found a good one. Voltmeter indicated defective batteries as good. So can't trust meter.

I have the same problem with my 2015 i3. Did you get this issue resolved?

    Wet Floors

Great opportunity to clean carpets using one of those Hoover/Bissell/other upholstery cleaning tools. Did this after open windows let rain in. Then had heater on high floor setting for a couple of days (no floor mats of course). Dried out beautifully!

    Scratched Hood...

If you search on "repairing auto paint scratches" you will find many suggested techniques. Superficial scratches (those where your finger nail does not catch) can be buffed out.

    Vinegar smell from HVAC

Have you checked cabin air filter? It may need to be replaced.

Where to find Level 2 home charger ratings/reviews?

My advice is "bigger is better". Large electrical components in a bigger box is more reliable than small (delicate) components in a small box. We have two Clipper Creek evse's and a Flo/AddEnergy charger. All have been reliable over 5 years. Simple is also better than complex.

Save money on your brake fluid, air filters and oil change by doing it yourself!

Our driving style is as follows: we are retired so avoid driving in the rain/snow; we rarely use brakes (regenerative braking is sufficient) so braking system doesn't heat up and cool ie "breath"; car is stored in a garage (ie out of the weather).

Save money on your brake fluid, air filters and oil change by doing it yourself!

I have experimented with the gravity method, the two person brake pumping method and the vacuum pump method. All work ok. I prefer the two person method. We drive 20,000 to 30,000 km per year. A 3 year frequency is plenty for our style of driving. Bleeders seize after 3 years so are easily...

80m commute no charger at work; REX or no REX?

In 4 years of ownership I have forgotten to plug in a couple of times. If I didn't have the REx and this was my only car I would have been stuck.

80m commute no charger at work; REX or no REX?

How long are you planning to keep this vehicle? Once the battery degrades you won't have the same range. So you may want to consider REx if you are planning on keeping vehicle over long term.

What octane rating is right for the REx: 89 or 91?

Likely nothing to do with octane rating. My understanding is that there are far more additives in premium gas compared to regular. Top tier gas also has more additives. Mid grade is simply a mix of the two grades. Fuel injectors keep cleaner with more additives. This is important for injectors...

12 Volt Auxiliary Battery East Penn Deka AUX18L

I have replaced many 12 volt batteries over past 50 years. This one was almost as difficult to replace as the one located in the passenger footwell of our smart car. Imho this battery replacement should only be tackled after watching online videos how to. No idea if replacing battery yourself...

12 Volt Auxiliary Battery East Penn Deka AUX18L

When dealer replaced our 1st battery in Toronto Canada we had no symptoms. Apparently they saw messages in car CBS history that informed them of defect. Had 2nd battery checked by dealer during 55 point inspection done at end of warranty. They said it was fine. Over the past year we have seen...

12 Volt Auxiliary Battery East Penn Deka AUX18L

Bought battery from dealer. Installed it today. Didn't register it (don't believe this is necessary). 2015 i3 with REx with 81,000 km. 3rd battery. 2nd battery would be 3 years old in June. 1st battery replaced under warranty (defective). You guys have made me paranoid! Got battery about a month...
