    hello

Hello alohart! It was only since acquiring my 2021 i3s that I noticed this motion detection feature.

    Hi, I'm Bill Spencer

Hello Bill S. (wjsi327) and thank you for introducing yourself here! I started with a brand-new 2014 i3 BEV and just a few years ago turned it in for a 2021 i3s BEV. They are so much fun to drive and I agree with you about the appeal of "one pedal driving". Regarding your comment that you...

    Why BMW Dealers so greedy?

The i Vision Circular concept gave me hope that BMW had found a way forward from the i3 but they seem to have pivoted to the Vision Neue Klasse. The Vision Neue Klasse is a thoughtful way forward for their 3er/4er models but I wonder how much further along BMW could have been if they had not...

Any I3 Owner in Los Angeles know a good Mechanic?

Regarding South Bay Independent, they were my go-to BMW shop in the Los Angeles area for more than 15 years. They were completely honest in scoping work and in pricing. The owner (a BMW NA Master Mechanic) retired in the early 2020s and his #1 mechanic & staff were supposed to take over the...

    hello

And the reason why the iDrive error message asks the user to place the undetected key fob next to the steering column is because the i3 can then wirelessly supply power to a dead-battery fob via NFC (near-field communication). Usually i3 key fobs don't stop working without warning as the car...

    Hello!

How would "seeing pictures" help the original poster?

    hello

Hello WatWin – Just wanted to say "thanks" for registering here. The mix of members varies from some folk that stop by to ask a specific question to others that have been here for a decade, answering all kinds of queries.

    Hi

Yes, an i3 is indeed bigger inside vs. outside!

    Why BMW Dealers so greedy?

I'm in a similar position, traded from a 2014 i3 BEV to a 2021 i3s BEV. Lease term is up soon and all BMW NA has been offering is a deal on an i4 M50 – which has nothing in common with an i3! BMW AG hit a narrow market segment when they released the i3 (and they acquired many new clients to...

Charging not showing up in myBMW app

Hello Pam – Congratulations on getting your 2017 i3 REx and welcome to the forum! It looks like your query to Google above went to one of their generative AI tools which can't be trusted to give accurate answers – thank you eNate & EvanstonI3 for pointing that out. There are a lot of...

Bmw i3 acoustic pedestrian warning failure

I've done the same as websterize. While the concept of making an EV generate sound so it can make other road users aware of its activity makes sense, in reality, BMW chose poorly in regards to the loudness and tone of what late-model i3s have been saddled with. As a 2021 BEV owner, the...

    Which years for which options

Helllo gcvpi09 – 2017 models and earlier are fitted with LED low beam headlights + separate, circular, halogen high-beam lamps located below the LEDs. My first i3 was a 2014 and this is not a great lighting setup. From the 2018 model year, all lighting is LED. Not sure where you're located...

    i3 Charging question/issues (2022 120ah model, UK)

Howdy NeilHopkins – A few things to consider... do you live in a corrosive environment (near an ocean?) If so, corrosion can build up between the high-voltage socket on your wall or high-voltage plug that supplies power to your EVSE (wall box charger). Second (and this is from a US...

Want to buy an i3 as an around-town EV

sirozha – Just to follow up on my prior post about efficiency... it's likely the i3 you drove has been calculating its consumption history since it was built – how many car dealers do a full reset on a used car before making it available for test drives? I think you're seeing such a low...

Want to buy an i3 as an around-town EV

Just adding on here about efficiency... In my 2014 i3 BEV (2,880 pounds) I averaged 4.2 miles/kWh driving a mix of roads 80% surface streets / 20% freeway. In my 2021 i3s BEV (3,150 pounds + wider tires) I average 3.9 miles/kWh with the same driving style.

Does the REx engine heat a cold battery?

Hello BobDowser, welcome to the board! To add on to mojo's post, the i3 will only precondition (pre-heat) the traction battery if it's plugged in to a power source AND has a departure time set. You don't mention how many miles you need to cover with your potential i3. Where I live, winter...

Mode 3 charging - what is it?

Hello NeilHopkins – Not sure where you are (and your local voltage) but selecting the "Reduced" option contributes to the longevity of the traction battery. If you're in the US and charge at 110V then you might need to charge at Max just to make your commute. If you're in the US and charge at...

    Software for BMW I3 (I01)

Hello thePeter – welcome to the board and thanks for the link to AOS, I hadn't heard of that service before! I wonder, with right-to-repair gaining traction in the US, if that will ultimately force BMW to stop charging for access to that information... we can hope? Regarding realoem.com, I...
