Successfully added Traffic Jam Assistant to US model -- interested in other people's experience with TJA

I replaced the buttons on my steering wheel for TJA. I bought the TJA buttons on EBay and replaced the originals. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/325316322623?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=w8Dr-a5jSwC&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=2i6djiueRjS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Successfully added Traffic Jam Assistant to US model -- interested in other people's experience with TJA

I have been using TJA (www.Quidzel.com) for 5 years. I installed it and did all Esys programming myself. The module just simulates that you are holding the steering wheel. The rest is programming. It works flawlessly. Except it will follow a car taking an exit on the motorway. Something to watch...

There are Facebook pages about people who build their own HOD emulators to enable TJA. Like this one https://www.facebook.com/groups/BMWi3/permalink/6432781516795655/?mibextid=W9rl1R

    Battery Replacement Under Warranty

Just wandering if anyone has done their own HV battery health test using the BMW diagnostic software ISTA+. It involves fully charging the HV battery and then fully discharging the battery using the air-conditioning with the windows open. You can get this software on the net for a reasonable...

    Battery Replacement Under Warranty

I read about BMW i3 AC compressor failures on the 2014/15 models on almost a daily basis sadly on the Facebook page - BMW i3 Worldwide Group. If caught early the replacement is cheap, if not the metal bits from the AC comoressor can go through the whole system which then becomes even more...

That is strange. :? Sounds like the light indicator for TJA is active is faulty. Try asking Sam from Quidzel. [email protected]

    Traffic jam assist retro

After pressing the button to activate JSA (bottom button LHS on steering wheel) which is a different button which activates ACC. When the conditions are right i.e. a white lane line is visible on each side and a car is also visible in front the steering wheel indication light should come on by...

    Traffic jam assist retro

Congratulations. Just need to use FDL coding for the rest. Read about it in the same shortcut you used before https://www.bmwesys.com/guides/Beginners%20Guide%20Coding.pdf. Pretty straight forward.

Anything else other than the above will give you an error. Make sure that you have not inadvertently added a space somewhere or added a full stop "." is not allowed either. Hope this helps but maybe you already know this.

    Traffic jam assist retro

Just received my TJA HOD module in the mail today. Installed it. Did the VO coding thing followed by coding the ECUs. Appeared that nothing had changed except losing existing code changes. I repeated all the coding a few times. Then I just happened to press a particular button on the steering...

    Traffic jam assist retro

So to code the SVT you press the "Read SVT" button instead of "Read ECU" button. Then right click the ECU then select "Code". This is the bit I find confusing. What is the difference between read SVT or ECM? Great, there was no mention of it on the Quidzel website. I am still waiting on...

    Traffic jam assist retro

I have recently ordered the Quidzel TJA module. Probably the first install in Australia. Does anyone have clear step by step instructions of the coding using Esys to make the TJA work on a BMW i3. So far I have managed to install Esys on a virtual machine program on Windows 10 to defeat the...

AC Charger Inlet Types - swappable?

AC Charger Inlet Types - swappable?

I am not sure either. Here is a photo of my Type 2 plug of my CCS 2 to CCs 1 cable adapter. It still has the CP (control pilot) wire connected from the Type 2 plug through to the Type 1 plug. The CS or PP pin is not used as it's only purpose is to inform the EV it has a EV plug connected which...

AC Charger Inlet Types - swappable?

Setec Power tell me they sell stacks of their Adaptors to Norway. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NUo4v_YChiWJ1Vr0aB8v1Mv8TJDE3XC3. I decided to get an adaptor instead of doing a retrofit on my BMW i3.

AC Charger Inlet Types - swappable?

I am wondering whether one of these Combo 2 socket inlets can replace my Combo 1 socket inlet on my BMW i3 94AH - AU$360. I have read that Combo 1 and Combo 2 use the same fast charge communications protocol. So is it just a matter of connecting wire for wire except for L2 and L3 which Type 1...
