$5,000 HV Battery Repair Not Covered by Warranties

Nope, I purchased this in 2018 with 18k miles as the second owner (I believe). Appreciate the suggestions so far.

$5,000 HV Battery Repair Not Covered by Warranties

Update: "EH" = Electric Heater. And they are denying the anti-corrosion warranty because that warranty allegedly covers body panels, not the electrical components.

$5,000 HV Battery Repair Not Covered by Warranties

    (1) Will do, but at this point they are completely non-responsive. They have not even returned the car, and are now just prolonging how long they are keeping it even though I have stated that I am not going through with the entire $5k in repairs at this time. Who knows when they return my...

$5,000 HV Battery Repair Not Covered by Warranties

I recently made an official battery warranty claim because my 2014 i3 BEV with 35,000 miles was routinely getting 40-50 miles on a full charge. I paid $390 for that service, which apparently came back "healthy," although I received no corresponding report to tell me what the usable capacity...

    End of production

I agree that more miles isn't really the issue with this car because it's the quintessential city car. I can see keeping my 2014 BEV i3 forever because it's really quite perfect for Houston and I'm not sure that I want a bigger car. I wouldn't mind an upgrade to a 2019-2020 i3s in red color...

    Raspberry Pi Carputer with i3

Has anybody tried to install a Raspberry Pi carputer into the i3, ideally connected to the main navigation screen? I've seen some links on the web re: other BMWs, but nothing for the i3 specifically (perhaps it is all the same?). It sounds like a fun cheap project but I'd much prefer to follow...

Do they really honor the 8/100,000 mile battery warranty? In our case YES!!

I have a 2014 i3 BEV that is routinely giving me 25-40 miles on a full charge on comfort--with maybe 60 miles on eco pro--when I used to get 80 miles on comfort alone. I have until August 2022 to make the battery claim, so I'll probably wait until the end to maximize my chances of a new battery.

How long do you plan to keep your I3?

My wife and I share one car, the BMW i3, and I used to think that I'd keep this car forever as a second car at least. But I'll probably trade it in for a used Tesla Model 3 LR when those cars depreciate below $20K. (We currently rent cars for long-distance road trips.) I can't justify two...

How much has your electric bill increased?

For about 5k miles/year, we were spending $100/year with the BMW i3 in Texas. For comparison, we spent $500/year for the same mileage with a Prius in the past. Our costs have come down since then to $20-40/year for 5k miles with the BMW i3, but that is after installing solar panels for the house.

Limiting total charge % - hidden feature?

Would a WiFi controlled EVSE be able to stop charging at 80%? Is it possible to make a dumb EVSE "smart" with aftermarket technology? For example, with a WiFi controlled outlet, etc.

New personal record on the Guess-O-Meter

I have a 7.5 kW system, which is enough for almost all of my needs.

Limiting total charge % - hidden feature?

What is the point of running the battery cooling for hours a day when you're not using it? How much energy does that use? Are you suggesting that this increases the battery's longevity? I also doubt that a closed garage can get to 100 degrees overnight, and perhaps not during the day either...

Greetings and DC fast charging question

The G-O-M is just that, a guess. Consider instead your battery charge and your average mi/kWh for the specific season/weather.

    Kia Niro EV

The Niro seems awesome. I can't wait until it's cheap enough on the used market to buy (I don't buy new cars; call me a sucker for appreciating assets). Thanks for these updates. But what is a DW? I assume your spouse, but I don't understand the abbreviation.

    Range/Battery Degradation - Data Requested

How am I supposed to tell if my battery degradation has exceeded 10%? My range is between 60-70 miles (2014 BEV) in the summer (with the AC blasting and the windows open, in Texas). How am I supposed to tell if this is battery performance or my own inefficient usage? This survey is meaningless...

    ConnectedDrive

The app has become less reliable over time for me. These days, all of my commands fail, including lock/unlock and climatize. It's a shame. I wonder if BMW even cares any more.

New personal record on the Guess-O-Meter

Nice. These days, I'm averaging 58 miles on my 2014 BEV. Then again, I'm blasting the AC, often with the windows open, and with zero concern about efficiency. My daily commute is less than 5 miles round-trip, and my solar panels charge the car for "free," so I don't much care. It's a perfect car...

    Cleaning eucalyptus wood dash

I recently bought the BMW Pluscare product, which should arrive today. Is there a reason you don't want to use that product? FYI, it's available for about half the price (after shipping) if you buy it from eBay, where some BMW dealer sells it for ~$14 with shipping included.

    Plugless wireless charging system?

Did anyone ever receive a Plugless wireless charger? What is the status of this company?

    BEV vs REX

Same. Personal car ownership is expensive and inefficient. If it were up to me, I'd even sell the i3 and rely solely on public transport, rideshares, bikeshares, Zipcar, running, and car rentals for the occasional long-distance trips. But my wife seems to think I'm too extreme :). A fully...
