    Precondition with key fob

Oh really? I thought all keyfobs were the same!

    Windsurfing board & I3

Pics don't work (...anymore). How did you fit it in, and how much space did you have left? I'm wondering if it would take my 272x65cm windsurf board. In any regular car I've owned, I would simply recline the passenger seat and slide the board in through the tailgate, with the tail of the board...

    Precondition with key fob

I agree with the fact that it will be of no use when you're out of keyfob range, however that's not the question. The question is how to activate climitization with the keyfob, and I simply pointed out you don't need bimmercode to do that...

    Precondition with key fob

Can't you also just go into the car's option menu and program the diamond shaped button on the keyfob to turn on the climatization? I think that is an easier solution that does not require any kind of programming/parameterization, no OBDII dongle etc.

i3 with 3G in North America

Hmmm so how does exchanging the headunit help with the disfunctional 3G connectivity? Does it provide its own interface (4G/WiFi/...) and does it let you then do all the things you'd be able to do over the 3G connectivity, e.g. setting the preconditioning? Or is all the headunit provides the...

To I3 REx or not to I3 REx?

Haha thanks, good to hear! Have a safe trip!

No problem iCJ, take care and best of luck with your I3 decision making process!

To I3 REx or not to I3 REx?

Well, I have decided that between the quirky door setup, our occasional need to do ~130mi trips and the cost involved in case things do go wrong, the I3 isn't the most sensible purchase for us. I'm looking at Audi a3 e-trons / VW Golf GTE'S now, the '15-'16 model. Price point around here is...

Ah yes, that clears things up. We're on the same page now, thanks!

Welcome to the BMW i3 Forum

Ok, I just want to get back to this part: "5 fuel stops for a 210km trip"? Is this based on the premise of having the limited usable fuel capacity in the US version? Because I'm in Europe (but having a "coded" REx in the US would be similar to use the full fuel capacity and the option to...

Welcome to the BMW i3 Forum

Thanks for your input. Yes, I am aware of the secret menu information, but also know that that value will vary from day to day. Good point on the fueling strategy though!

To I3 REx or not to I3 REx?

Thank you all for your replies, and the valid points raised. I guess the bottom line indeed is that: a) the chances of a break down are slim/moderate when buying a car that's been on the road for some time and has been looked after properly (so with the early model's teething problems having...

To I3 REx or not to I3 REx?

After quite some research, I'm still on the fence: should I but a used 60Ah REx or not? Reserving some budget for repairs and general maintenance, this is the only model that meets our occasional range requirements that we can actually afford (so don't suggest to buy a non-REx 94Ah please), but...

    I had a 3G to 4G TCU upgrade to prove a point.

I am not sure this has been posted before, so: sorry if it has, but: does the 3G module support 2G as well by any chance? In my county, 3G will be discontinued soon too, but 2G will still be available because a lot of utility-style hardware still relies on it (alarm systems, smart gas&electric...

Getting into rear seats by folding front seats only?

You're not missing anything except that for the fact that it is a total nuisance having to do this frequently. Mind you: we're not in the US here but in Holland. Backing up into the street immediately blocks traffic as our streets are often quite narrow, and parking spots are much tighter than...

Locked in car whilst map updates!

My thoughts exactly: "Wait... what? No mechanical linkage to open the door, nor a fallback scenario/override in case the electronics fail!? " I would surely hope you can always open the door from the inside...?

Welcome to the BMW i3 Forum

Thanks! The REx I have my eye on was registered December 2015, so a late 15 model. It has done about 115K km, so that is about 72K mi or so I guess. It is said to have had all it's servicing done by BMW. We plan on running it around town for errands, so typically the 60Ah would be very...
