    mobile charging unit

Look into Jesla (the Tesla UMC conversion), well, that is, if Tesla gets their UMC in stock. I just bought a new one from fleabay and shipped it over the Quick Charge Power for the conversion coz I can't wait on Tesla to ship their UMC. The Jesla varies the pilot signal to the car's charger...

    Bimmercode App experience?

Received the Vgate module today and immediately coded my i3 for the following: - Get rid of the disclaimer - Hold State of Charge - Start up in Eco Pro Mode So far worked as expected. The bimmercode app is so easy to use. At least on the IOS app, the "Range Extender battery activation level"...

    Bimmercode App experience?

Hi I'm anxiously awaiting delivery of the Vgate OBD interface to code my i3 REx. From the awesome details in this thread, i believe i need to set the "Range Extender Menu" to Active. What about the other option, "Range Extender battery activation level"? Does it actually work. So if it set...

Anyone in NH or even Boston, MA area willing to help with coding

Anyone in the NH or Boston area who can help me with coding my 2017 i3 REx. All i want is to be able to activate REx at will below 75% SOC. But there might be other options worth doing. I've read lots but there might be someone local who knows what they're doing.

REX software and Video in Motion

Someone smarter than me (pretty sure there are lots! :) ) can explain this much better but let me tell you why I'm considering on having my i3 coded for the REx to Hold SOC at a certain %. Stock, I believe REx engages around 5-6% SOC. Well that would work perfectly well for me if I'm close to...

How many have had the drive train malfunction error?

Oh, thanks Art. That's good to know. It's been almost 2 months since REx turned on. It might be due for a cycle soon. I'll just let it run its course.

How many have had the drive train malfunction error?

Wow, didn't realize till now that the CEL is quite common (pardon me, new to the forum and just had my i3 for 2 months). I only had that CEL come on once after using REx the very first time for about 5 miles. Never did it come back on again. But that may be coz I haven't had REx turn on again...

Anyone here using the portable Jesla EVSE? Is it worth it?

Art/EVBob Ah Juicebox ...... haven't looked at it closely. Will do so now since it's relatively compact and is a viable option. If I can't get the Jesla this week or even later next week, I might start looking into other options. As for manually adjusting the current cap, I think with the UMC...

Anyone here using the portable Jesla EVSE? Is it worth it?

Newer than the Turbocord? Gonna have to look into that. I agree, it may carry the BMW premium. I didn't consider the Turbocord since its exactly the sane specs as the EVSE that came with my wife's Volt, 3.3-3.6Kw at 240vac.

Anyone here using the portable Jesla EVSE? Is it worth it?

I ordered a portable Jesla a couple of weeks ago since I want the portability and to maximize the i3's charging rate. Unfortunately, seems that parts are hard to source from Tesla recently so I haven't received my order yet. I travel a lot to cycling charity events and want to take an EVSE that...

Safety Seal - for plugging hole on tires

I sure hope that sealant they used to soak that nylon yarn to plug the hole doesn't melt inside and muck up the sensor. fingers-crossed

Safety Seal - for plugging hole on tires

In case it hasn't been brought up before (if it was, I apologize). I had a flat due to a screw. Tried the slimy thingy and it didn't do me any good. Had to drive the i3 for 2miles at 35mph to get home. Already called dealership for a replacement tire since driving for 2 miles might have caused...

    i5 Cancelled: What next?

Actually, i really like the i3 for what it is and how it was made and how it looks, polarizing as it may be. It stands out. I am still hoping for something similar in the future. The '18 i3S looks to be one step towards making it look less futuristic. On that note, i really think BMW should pay...

Do you carry an emergency jack in the i3? If so, which one.

    i5 Cancelled: What next?

Sorry I know, old topic. But I was looking forward to the i5 or i6 or whatever's next. I was looking into the Tesla Model 3 but apart from having to wait in line for one, I think the i3 is the perfect EV for me right now. Wife bought a Volt coz we need a long-range vehicle that still has...

Do you carry an emergency jack in the i3? If so, which one.

So I think I've gine through the first rite of passage for owning an i3 ....... getting a flat, that is. A screw did it. The slimy thingy didn't work for me so I'm having the dealer replace the tire. Now that I've experienced that, slight paranoia set in. I've bought the Safety Seal to plug...
