Hi All, I am from Toronto Ontario and would like to get your input regarding:

1. is the i3 coming to Canada this year
2. since my daily drive is only 60KM so I am not quite concern for the range in cold, however can the skinny tires handle snows road condition
3. does the dealer have manufacture winter tires available

Thanks.

Hi

I was told by BMW Laval, and at the Montreal auto show that it is coming in spring 2014.
there was a I3 shown at Montreal auto show.

Canadian price list here :
http://www.tcbmw.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/MY14-i3-Retail.pdf

For question 2 and 3, I do not know

Thanks for the info. The pdf doc shows that the i3 may have mixed tires, is that common for new cars (not only EV).

I would highly recommend you go to Budds BMW in Oakville. They are serious about being the premier BMW i dealer in the Toronto area. they even paid to fly me up there and help train the staff. If you go there, ask to speak to Mathew, he is the BMW i3 client adviser specialist there and tell him I sent you! ;)

Not really. It is common on sports model cars but not so much on standard cars.

The base BEV comes with 5"x19" front and rear wheels non-mixed tyres. The REX and any wheel option chosen is with mixed tyres (5.5" rear wheel width).

If you choose the 20" tyres there is no winter tyre option in that size. There is a thread here somewhere talking about winter tyres and it would seem the answer in that case is to buy a spare set of the base 5 inch rims with winter tyres and swap them on in winter.

Tom has a good i3 tyre and wheel post on his blog: http://bmwi3.blogspot.com.au/2014/02/bmw-i3-wheels-and-tires-what-you-need.html

So the winter tires are on 5 inch rim only, and I can install either 5 inch or 5.5 inch rim on the rare, right? Thanks.

The winter tyre is size 155/70 19. on 5 inch rim, yes. I don't know if they would work on a 5.5 inch rim but it is possible. Someone is sure to try that. :)

Bridgestone BLIZZAK LM-500 (Winter) only 19" 155 / 70
Bridgestone ECOPIA EP500 (Summer) all sizes

Hello, I'm the iBrand manager at Budds BMW. There's only three dealers carrying the iBrand in Ontario and I'm actually the only manager overseeing the brand at the retail level. The i3 will be here in May! Production starts in the coming days......

Please email me at [email protected] and we can continue discussing everything iBrand. Exciting things coming, BMW is leading the way for EV's......funny how every other manufacturer has gone to great lengths to legally have a right to licence our technology in the next 24 months.

Hi, do we have any more information about the leasing program for the i3 in Canada (residuals and % interest)? I have read some pretty scary numbers about the US lease (although I dont think anything is official yet) and it doesn't seem encouraging compared to other cars I have leased in the past.
