Samsung Gear watch with BMW i Remote App

Error message on Galaxy phone:
"BMW i Remote App waiting for connection to Gear app"

and it waits....and waits.....

Anyone else got around this to control their i3 from the Galaxy Gear watch?? (I know they released it for the Gear S more recently but the version of iRemote for Galaxy Gear came out first.

No longer compatible due to the new Tizen update to these watches.

Thanks but that doesn't apply to me as I chose not to update to Tizen. Regardless, I recently learned from BNW Group, that it's only available in the German Gear App Store, despite all those press releases in the US, Canada and the UK!
