EU uses Mennekes aka Type 2

If you get a Type 2 plugged unit you can get a cable that has a type 2 to type1 adapter. I have a type 2 socket on my EVSE and two cables one that is Type 2 - Type 2 and another Type 2 to Type 1 for the Outlander PHEV.

thanks, kind of almost got to that cable conclusion myself after reading more about it. Sounds like i might have to buy a separate cable if i go for a socket install at home as the options ive seen for socket on OLEV installs dont mention anything about included cables :(

One thing I did check up on... in case I get rich next year, is what the Tesla does. Decided id be better off with their 3 phase EVSE which can get you 20kW at home if you go with twin chargers in the car. Handy if you just come back from a days driving and want the car full by morning. Obviusly not a cheap option as you need a new 3 phase supply too!

Isnt it amazing that with less than 10,000 EVs on the road in the UK there are now 4 different connectors 3 protocols. I think telsa did the right thing... use type 2 menenkes connectors with anything from 120V ac 3kw, 240v single, 440v 3 phase up to 135kW DC.

Why does everyone else have to complicate it (type 1, type 2, Chademo, CCS, 43kW 3 phase AC etc ). bonkers.

If I were UK governement Id just mandate that everyone uses Tesla standard (if its included in the patents they released) as it obviously goes up to 135kw.. more than CCS or Chademo covers. Although some of the specs for CCS looks like it might go to 1000V 400A DC. Thats 400kW!
