Those clamps holding it in place are not really clamping on anything suitable. To me, the risk of damaging the CFRP is not worth it. You can change a light bulb when standing on a chair, but a ladder is safer and more reliable. Would be really nasty to have it come off at 70mph on the highway while tearing away a chunk of plastic.

I absolutely agree. We've just come back from a weekend trip, packing the car to its limits. As a family of 4, we were surprised how much we can actually get into the car. Why risk damages to the car structure and one's safety with something like this?

I found this picture on Plugshare, it's from a CCS charger in Yorkshire.

Not sure there is a problem. I think the straps may be run through the windows and out the other side so the complete package is straped too the top of the car. I’ve done similar with other cars and with suitable packing under the load never had any problem.

You'd have to be fairly short to avoid the straps if they went all the way around underneath the roof structure!

I don't feel comfortable putting any load on the CFRP roof that it wasn't designed for. Scratches can be an issue, too, as it could allow moisture to get into the fabric if deep enough over time.
