Do a forum search...there are posts that describe the process and results.
I did try that before posting, but nothing relevant came up. I'd appreciate if you could send me relevant links.
Using a Pioneer under seat subwoofer:
Adding subwoofer to a base non-HK system?
Adding an actual subwoofer... this is tapping into the wires directly which I don't 100% recommend:
Actual Subwoofer
How to get power from 12V system? Try the fuse panel:
12 volt battery in parallel to the existing 12 volt batt
My approach in my i3 non-HK is to use existing HiFi/iDrive adapters. I looked up the pinout and it matches the F series cars:
i3s A37 HiFi amplifier pinout:

F30 A37 HiFi amplifier pinout:

The adapter I used is

Now, with this I purchased a breakout cable to run a dedicated amplifier. The speakers are 4" shallow mount, which I've dealt with in my E92. Using speaker adapters, you can run any 4" speaker in the doors as long as they are shallow enough. The tweeters will have to use custom pods or purchase of the HK a pillar covers (
part numbers on realoem)...
My notes, including amps and speaker choices, are in Evernote:
