    Audi A3 E-tron

Off for a test drive on the 30th June ..... will let you know how I get on. Lets hope the Audi dealership behaves better than the BMW one did.

    I heard the Rex today......

I was originally going to write that ........ but I didn't think anyone would get it.

    I heard the Rex today......

No thank goodness, but it does seem bizarre so long after launch that its the first time its been reported on. I think because the batteries were so full it was running in its least stressed mode (with no variation), however even at that low rate you could still see the battery charge level...

    I heard the Rex today......

It wasn't stationary to begin with ;)

    I heard the Rex today......

I think for the odd time day to day, (that unexpected extra 20-30 miles detour) and the occasional long 180 - 250 mile trip once or twice a month its absolutely ideal. The car is still fundamentally an electric car - but with zero range anxiety.

    I heard the Rex today......

.....and it sounds like ....... a generator! Imagine an Motorhome / RV type Honda generator .... well suppressed .... but running at a constant speed with surprising low revs .... so a bit alien in a car. People standing about 10 feet away didn't know it was on. Interestingly I was able to...

    BMW i Remote App

A video of the i Remote app. BTW the BMW Expert at Frankfurt confirmed that you can condition (hot or cold) the interior of the i3 via the Smartphone App regardless of whether you have Rex or not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJduJRZOsfg

    My IAA Frankfurt experience

I mentioned many moons ago before I'd sat in a production i3 that I hoped it would be 5 Series quality not 3 series as I felt the latest 3 wasn't the best quality. The jury is still out as far as I'm concerned as to which level the i3 is ..... but I must say sitting in the Audi e-tron it did...

    My IAA Frankfurt experience

I do really like the i3 it’s just that weirdly at a motorshow where you can hop out of one car into another it really puts into sharp focus what other manufactures are doing (and they are not standing still) – so to get out of a Standard i3 and get into a Skoda Rapid Sportback and for the Skoda...

    My IAA Frankfurt experience

Just back from Frankfurt and I suppose I’m a bit like Steven from the Netherlands in so far as I thought the i3 was good but I wanted to be blow away by it. It didn’t help that the place was absolutely mobbed and BMW were either completely unprepared for the volume of people or they were just...

My pictures and vides from IAA Frankfurt

Great pictures and video ...... many thanks for posting. Did you go on a public day? What were your thoughts about the i3 before you went (had you already placed a provisional order?) .... did seeing them inside / outside & the ride change your view - for better / worse? What was your...

    How many have been sold?

Thanks for that explanation Steven, I could never get my head round why new car sales were relatively low in the Netherlands as the list price of cars don't look that much higher than the rest of the EU. Now I see its the on-costs ... linked to list price that are the killer. I can see...

    How many have been sold?

I would have thought that with the countrywide Rapid charging stations being installed the Rex was less of an issue so I would have expected more people to have taken a punt on the pure EV if those sort of tax savings were involved. Mind you range does seem to be an issue in the Netherlands (as...
