BTW the BMW Expert at Frankfurt confirmed that you can condition (hot or cold) the interior of the i3 via the Smartphone App regardless of whether you have Rex or not.

Hope so. That contradicts an email answer I got from BMW when I asked the same question but I view it as a 'perk' i.e. if it isn't available it won't result in me cancelling the order so it's on my long list of things not to fret about
