There's a lot of discussion on Leaf forums about quite rapid battery degradation and the point at which it becomes a warranty issue.

Apparently Nissan will only consider requests for replacement if the charge capacity drops to 66% in 5yrs.

Does anyone know yet what BMW's expected degradation and replacement criteria will be?

I'm not sure on the BMW battery warranty but I found this article interesting on expected battery life,
(Translated, sorry it was in German)

That sounds encouraging.

We'll find out if it's true over the next 4/5 years.

Leaf drivers in hot climates seem to be having a lot of battery life disappointments.

I'm not trying to be arsey (it's a good question) but have you tried asking BMW ?

Hi Jeremy,

here in NL, the battery is warranted for retaining 70% charge for 8 years or 100kkm. I guess this means that the criterium is 70%.
I believe it is 100kmi in the UK.

Greetings, Steven
