The rear seat backs have two positions! If you pull the latch strap, you can put them back to another position which is anatomically correct and comfortable! Every i3 I've been in they've been in the first, upright, uncomfortable position. I can't find this referenced in the manual.

Oops, just found it in the manual.
 
Ouch! It's very strange that any should be delivered with the back seat upright, anybody in the back must have been really uncomfortable. However, the upright position makes a worthwhile addition to the boot capacity without folding the seats when only one or two up.
