I bought my i3 REX circa 54000Miles in Sept 23. Had an MOT done and all OK.
For the past couple of months I get random messages about having the Drivetrain caption checked by my service provider. I initially took it back to the Garage who sold it to me, but they could not find any saved fault issue in the car.
Nothing seems wrong with the car itself and its drives and charges OK.
Does anyone know what else it could be? Any tips or thoughts would be welcome.

That fault will be logged, the dealer is telling porky pies. I have ISTA software so on BMW fault tree it will usually be linked to EME. You can clear DTCs with ISTA, but if sensor still detects fault it will remain., Could be anything, but usually it’s a sensor regards HV insulation value not within specification, such as moisture in cable connection.

My wife’s car is 65 plate REx. I swapped out 12V battery last year, worth doing if original battery. In ISTA instructions it recommends switching on and off terminal 15, which is basically ignition. I disconnected 12V battery with HV connection disabled for a few minutes. I also swapped out spark plugs. I’d read that could help. That was an utter ball ache as throttle body buried deep with multiple connections.

If your car is a REx, then running the engine could hep with residual heat to dry out any connections. There is a HV cable connection under the car that’s susceptible to water ingress. The fact you can continue your journey with no loss of power puts this fault at lower end of urgency, but it’s a pain for sure.

Thanks.
Took to a local "German Car" specialist. They want £430 to dig around to understand what is at fault. If it is a MCU or water ingress/corrosion on cables. This is circa £120/hr for just diagnostics. The Auto guard protection says they cover is the Control unit is at fault but not for corrosion. Seeing as this caption came on not long after I bought the car it would suggest that this was the case when I bought it. Am looking for i3 specialists in Berkshire area that can probably give a better assessment.
