Hi, I wonder if anyone has connected the iphone 5 to the pro NAV system in order to see texts or emails on screen? Can't seem to find it in either the paper or electronic version of the manual and the BMW homepage just sends me round in circles.

I have the Bluetooth upgrade with voice control which I believe adds this functionallity, I also have the snap in phone cradle (£165!!!) so thought it might be that but no luck.

I would very much appreciate a guide on how to set this up as I think that this 'will' be an amazing feature!

It's a no as far as I can see.

However you may be able to activate SIRI via the BMW buttons / voice? From there you can do SMS using audio.

Go here and check it out, filling your phone in returns a red X next to 'SMS display' in the 'Office' section.

Mr S

How strange not to have compatibility for one of the largest phones manufactures?

How likely do people think there will be a software update for the i3 soon to accommodate the i3 office pairing?

I am afraid that the iPhone is not compatible for texts (Enhanced BT).

As for the emails, I explained how to set up your ConnectedDrive in order to have them displayed on the main screen here : http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=641&hilit=+email

You can also have them "read" to you.

Just had a play and got it working, texts and emails, both showing symbols on the screen (next to the signal strength) went to office and they were in there, also read them out if I wanted, perfect.

Looks like BMW need to update there compatibility page. :D

That's pretty good. I have the little symbol but can never get them in Office. Any clues? Special setting on the iPhone5?

I found this on the f30 (3 series) website about the connecteddrive

"1. Your car must have the Enhanced Bluetooth option for the Office functionality to work.

2. On the iDrive go to Telephone > Configure Bluetooth and turn on Office.

3. On the iDrive go to Menu and select Office > Messages > and select All messages to be displayed.

4. On the iPhone go to Settings > Messages and make sure Messages are set to Send and Receive.

5. On the iPhone go to Settings > Notifications > Messages and make sure notifications are on, and set to View in Lock Screen. I haven't tested every combination for the notification settings, but I have mine set as follows.
- Notification Center is On
- Show 5 Recent Items
- Alert Style is Banners
- Badge App Icon is On
- Show Preview is On
- View in Lock Screen is On

6. On the iPhone go to Settings > Notifications > Mail and make sure notifications are on, and set to View in Lock Screen. Settings are same as number 5.

7. On the iPhone go to Settings > Bluetooth > and click on the BMW blue arrow link and make sure Show Notifications is selected.

8. To see the messages in the car your phone must be in the locked screen mode - so to test, send an email or text from another phone or computer."

Made sure all of these were working and now works a treat!

Great, useful info thanks.

BTW looking at other BMW forums it looks like having pro navigation means you may be able to turn on the enhanced bluetooth option after delivery using a BMW code tool!

Will investigate once I get delivery.

I am really hoping that the new IOS 8.1.3 might activate SMS on my Proff Sat Nav. I think this update is to connect the iwatch with the hand set and as texts are supposed to be read and sent from the watch, this could be the moissing link?
What do you think?

Make sure that you have the latest entertainment/phone software in your i3. This is one area where you can upgrade that yourself. At least on the USA website, you put in your VIN, and download the s/w to a USB drive. THen, follow the menus to upload it to the car. I'd guess the UK website is similar, but the link can be hard to find. Try this http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/connected_drive_services/mobile_devices/bluetooth_software_update.html

I think the latest versions, at least for my vehicle, are: Media: MN-2.39.60
▷ Phone: TN-2.39.62 You can view this via the I-drive menu.
