    U.S. Dealer Selling Prices?

No premium above MSRP in St. Louis.

    i3 features and technology

Thanks for putting this together, Darren. The SparkEV would have been an option for me as well, if not for the fact that it's a compliance car, with GM having no foreseeable plans to make it available beyond California & Oregon.

    Memory Power Seats and Mirrors

For myself, I've been driving an electric car for over 2 years already, so I was sold on (and have been selling) the "really fun to own and drive" for a long time now. It's just that with my next EV (especially from a premium brand), I was hoping to get back some of the niceties that I...

    Sunroof Information

For me, it's not a matter of light. I open the sunroof for fresh air. They're typically a lot quieter and have less wind buffeting than the side windows, and I have them open a lot when I drive. It probably sounds crazy, but I could do without Bluetooth audio integration and navigation since...

    Sunroof Information

I hadn't heard that this was a sure thing, and got the impression that it was an assumption. Thanks for the confirmation, Tom.

Awesome, thanks for the information guys!

    Memory Power Seats and Mirrors

Amen, bilofski. The probable lack of a sunroof here in the US, no memory power seats, no heated steering wheel, and no plans for DCQC at the dealerships... I can't help but feel that my first purchase of a premium vehicle seems to be lacking a lot of the usual 'premium' stuff (CFRP and BMW...

    Sunroof Information

Here in the US, there's some uncertainty whether or not the Sunroof will be an available feature/option on the i3, at least initially. For anyone across the pond that has a sunroof, would it be possible to post some pictures of the sunroof and its operation and various operating positions? I'd...

    Deposits?

I've been trying to reach my rep via email to inquire about the orderability (if this isn't a word, it should be :D ), but it's possible he's been on vacation as he hasn't replied. I'll try calling him today. I can see why they would want a large deposit if he had planned on placing the order...

    Deposits?

Where are you located, Montgoss? I placed a $500 refundable deposit to hold onto one of their 13 allocations for 2014 i3's. I imagine that after I actually order the i3 (US orders aren't yet being accepted by BMW), that the deposit will become non-refundable.

No Lease Available on US i3?

It sounds like it's structured very similar to a traditional lease, but they're using different terminology and it's disguised a bit as a purchase. In this case, rather than BMW claiming the $7500 (or less, as Tom mentioned), the $7500 is claimed on your taxes by you. You are then obligated to...

    BMW i3 REx vs Tesla S 60kwh

When you own neither but can afford either, I see no reason why the two can't be 'compared'. How else can you make an educated choice? Unfortunately for me, the comparison stopped at the price, as the extra $20-30K made the Model-S unaffordable for me. :(

    USA I3 charging options

Thanks, Chuck. I found out about the HCS-40 after I had posted that reply. It looks like that's the charger I'll be getting.

    Wheel Option questions

If the different tire sizes were isolated to the REx option, I wouldn't be concerned, but looking at the ordering guide it appears that any BEV configuration using anything but the base model wheels will result in differing front/back tires. (footnote-1 is just a warning about the increased...

    Wheel Option questions

I was concerned with the different tire sizes as well. How are tire rotations done when the front tires are a different size than the back? Will this decrease the expected life of the tires?

    Technical Questions about chargers

Careful that you don't put '220V' and 'fast charger' together as they each have different meaning (and much different price-points). The 220 charger is generally called a Level-2 (L2) charger, where a fast-charger is a Level-3 (L3) DC fast-charger. An L3 charger charges *very* fast if you...

Pre-Ordered my i3 at South Motors BMW in Miami

Nice, another member of the US 'deposit-placed' club! I wish there was one here that I could test drive. Hopefully one of the Orange LA i3's will make its way to St. Louis soon. 8-)

Why we aren't ordering an i3

If I can easily fit my two Great Danes in my Volt, I don't think I'll have a problem with the i3 (with the back seats folded down, of course).

BMW to omit SOC on US model i3?

Thanks for the link, yiiikes! I wasn't aware of the Range Assistant, and it looks very cool! The article doesn't list 'temperature' as one of the many variables that it uses, but I would think it would certainly use that as well. I still think a percentage could easily be added for those that...

    Depreciation costs and battery wear?

I can tell you from 26 months of first-hand experience that Autocars numbers are an absolutely worst-case scenario. The only time I get only 25 miles per charge is if the temperature is under 20 degrees Fahrenheit (throughout the year, I average 41-42 miles per charge). You'd have to be...
