    Change time to reflect summertime

I think that was my wife's tweet you saw! I noticed the manual time setting when I picked the i3 up last year. The clock was wrong, which struck me as odd since there's at least these sources of clock syncing available: RDS, GPS, internet. I left it, hoping it would auto-adjust but it never...

    I3 with Rex compared to...

Don't get me wrong, I love my i3, but if Tesla's 3 model becomes a reality - and it has a similar range to the existing Tesla models - then I'll be all over it. Currently the i3 is a great second car but given the profile of my family's driving, we still need something with a longer range.

    UK EVSE Install

My meter's outside just above the main meter, which is also outside. At my old house, with the Chargemaster point, I didn't have a separate meter that I could access. I think it was built in to the unit but not visible to me unlike with the Rolec one I have now.

    UK EVSE Install

Yep, I also had the meter installed (my installation was done by Tech for Energy). I think it's standard with Rolec. And would agree that the installation experience was much better than with the charger at my old house.

    UK EVSE Install

I had a Rolec charger installed on Monday (not by TLGEC). So far, so good, and I'm enjoying the faster charging time compared to plugging it into the 3-pin socket in the garage via an extension lead which is what we were doing while waiting for installation. It makes a loud clunk when charging...

    UK Finding/ using recharging points

Got a rapid charge out of the Ecotricity charger at Pease Pottage services, though that involved having to call the Ecotricity helpline to activate the charging. The three other charging line/adapters were all out of order so I was actually lucky. Re: the cards, I believe the Source London card...

Fast DC (CCS) charger on M25...

Following @elechighway on Twitter has become rather worrying of late - I get the impression (justified or not) that faults at the Ecotricity charging points are common. Given that there's not a huge number of alternative charging points, I want to be absolutely sure that when I get to a service...

    Charging accounts in UK

Your Source East card should also work for Ecotricity. Given that they're free at the moment, I applied for a separate Ecotricity card anyway, even though I have the Source London one.

Ipad/Iphone app to control i3 charging

I've just connected using i Remote and been able to change the departure time by tapping the current departure time. If you don't have a departure time set it's a button that says 'Set departure time'. I'm in the UK, if that makes any difference.

    BEV only experiences

That's interesting. We're replacing a 2010 Mini Cooper with a BEV. I hate driving the Mini (I got lumbered with it since the wife traded in my Honda Accord (which I loved driving) to get a CR-V) because it just feels overly chunky to me, whereas I loved the feel of the i3 from the first minute...

    Latest product news

When I asked the salesman in December about this, he seemed to think that if it became a legal requirement, BMW would do a recall and add the noise maker for free. I get the whole thing about the noise being useful for blind people but speaking as someone who used to live on a busy road, I'd be...

    200 UK orders

The 200 UK orders figure was in November 2013, when the original post/link was made.

Buying as a private owner or through my limited company?

Unless you need to car to carry out business (as opposed to travel on business), eg you're a driving instructor or a taxi driver, you can't claim the VAT back. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/vat/managing/reclaiming/motoring.htm If you lease the car, you can claim half the VAT back. For maintenance...

    UK Order v Delivery Dates

At the time I placed my BEV order, BMW were advising that I could get the car much earlier by ordering a REx instead. Doesn't seem a massive amount earlier, to be honest.

    UK Order v Delivery Dates

I placed my order for a BEV around mid-Feb and expected production is week 35 (w/c 24 August).
