    New tyres (or tires)

I got just over 17,000 miles out of the rears (175 x R19 size) on my i3 BEV which I got last April. The fronts are about 1,000 miles or so away from needing to be replaced. Any other experience on tyre life yet? This seems quite low mileage based on some of the comments on the Bridgestone...

    Replacement KLE (on board charger)

I had the infamous software upgrade last August on my April '14 BEV and this detuned the KLE to c 5kW max charge rate, as expected. I'd also read that a new KLE is available, a couple of months ago I think, but having heard nothing from BMW I just took the car to my dealer. The genius there...

    Airbag recall

Looks like certain i3s will have an airbag related recall due to incorrect assembly. The text suggests it's cars built on 31 March (perhaps it means before 31 March?). Anyone know for definite...

Fast DC (CCS) charger on M25...

I just used the brand new CCS charger at the Extra services near Cobham on the M25 (between J10 and 9). Fantastic! :D It's an Ecotricity charger so all I needed was my smart card. Hooked the car up showed it the card and off it went. Pretty cool to see it pushing 110A/400V into the car and it...

Has anyone worked out what the cup holder insert is for?

It fits the key if you put it in nose first (the key that is..) Maybe everyone's dealer pointed this out on handover, but mine didn't!

Is there a BMW recommended charging regime?

Following my range test to destruction http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=854 I asked my local dealer if BMW recommends a charging regime, for example should we keep it topped up, deplete it from time to time or what? The reply was: "BMW don’t recommend anything in particular...

What happens when you run out of charge?

So I tested my range to destruction today (BEV). Partly to see what happens although I didn't actually intend to end up calling BMW recovery to get the car home! Starting with a 73 mile range I'd done a 62 mile round trip then decided to do a c12 mile trip but followed a satnav instruction onto...

London Congestion Charge and the i3

The i3 has no congestion charge :D BUT you have to pre-register with TFL and pay a £10 fee :( See http://www.tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/ultra-low-emission-discount-application-form.pdf If you just drive in to London without registering the car you will have to pay. And have...
