And of course you see it supports NFC communication - so I wonder about BMW i Charger and Apple Watch (both communicate via NFC)

Maybe we won't know for sure until closer to the launch of the Apple Watch, but does anyone know if you have to have the BMW apps to take advantage of the Watch features? Or does it simply communicate with the iRemote app on your iPhone to perform functions that the iRemote provides?

I was annoyed when I couldn't unlock my 2014 i3 with the iremote app and I'm wondering if I'll be able to take advantage of the Apple Watch feature, or if similarly it will be a European-only option.

While functionally possible, BMWUSA has chosen to not allow unlocking from the app. Certainly, that could change with a s/w update. It's certainly not a hardware constraint.
