Talking to people who have driven the i3 alongside a 320d it apparently leaves the 320d behind by some margin.

At first that surprised me, but then I recalled what the current F30 3 series is like.

We recently drove a 320d M-Sport Touring. Overall BMW has take a step backwards from the previous generation.

The new car feels cost reduced compared to the old one. Sure the latest electronics are better and the car uses slightly less fuel.

The seats aren't as nice and the car just isn't as pleasant to drive. If we were buying a diesel BMW today it would probably be an X1. The X1 is still on the previous generation.

Either that or we'd get an A4.
