This looks like really bad news. BMW can't be happy having invested so much.

It'd be really bad news *if* it were true. Which it ain't.

Or at least not in the near future. I think the paper which the DM is reporting on makes it clear that the subsidy will run for a while yet.
 
The subsidies will run out eventually, and that's what they should do. They are just there to assist EV's in the beginning to help get them to the point where they are on a level playing field with ICE. I believe in 5-8 years we will be there and the subsidies will no longer be needed.
