    Pre-conditioning Value vs Cost

The important thing to note about battery preconditioning is that it is beneficial in several areas other than range: 1) Available output - if you go to your car on a cold day (20 degrees F) with no preconditioning, you will notice bars missing from your ePower meter. Acceleration is limited...

    Undoing the lease!?!

FWIW, I have found that my REx MPG is closer to 47-50 - granted, this is running it in HSOC mode. I imagine running it in standard mode at 6% puts more strain on it to maintain SOC, so 39mpg is probably realistic in that scenario. But even then, when you average out the electric and ICE MPG(e)...

    Carbon Fiber Wrap Dash Pieces

Looks good, better than I thought it would - I considered doing a CF wrap (I did CF in my last car), but for some reason I thought wood was more fitting for the i3. I didn't have to remove the vent to get the small piece on the driver's side out - It should just pop out with by prying w/ a...

Regen braking can be dangerous on icy roads

One way to mitigate aggressive rear-biased braking in slippery conditions is to left-foot brake. The basic idea is to feather the throttle with your right foot to either coast or light regen, then apply friction brakes with your left foot. It takes a bit of practice, but once mastered, you can...

    Wood Dash Panels

Thanks for getting back so quickly! I'm not terribly worried about doing the work myself - I will not be replacing with the wood trim (as much as I would like to) - instead I will be doing a wrap on the existing pieces. I couldn't convince the wife that the $500 for the eucalyptus trim was money...

    Wood Dash Panels

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead - any tips on removing the trim pieces? It looks like the glove box lid is maybe held on with a couple screws... is that right? Are the middle and driver side pieces typical trim held on with clamps? i.e. just pulls off?

DIY: Highbeam Headlamp Replacement / Upgrade

I've only had these install for a couple of weeks, so I don't know about their long-term reliability. However the LED high beams from eBay seem illuminate wider, longer, and brighter than the stock halogen bulbs. Of course that isn't saying much, because the stock bulbs were more or less useless...

    Painted front side-reflectors - DIY

In an effort to ‘try something different’, I decided to paint my front side-markers to match the blue accents on the rest of the car. (Yes, I know this is not legal in the US. So please save the comments) Not sure how I like it yet – I may end up going with body-matched Iconic Silver instead...

Tips and tricks you like about your i3

This is in the manual - but I know not everyone reads those things. There is a 12V port on the underside of the dash, right in the middle.

DIY: Highbeam Headlamp Replacement / Upgrade

I installed both the LED high beams and turn indicators. My oh my what an amazing improvement, especially with the high beams. Much brighter, and the color matches much better. Took me about 15 minutes total from unboxing to trash disposal. Highly recommended mod for under $100 and a few minutes...

Tips and tricks you like about your i3

I've been keeping my sunglasses in the center armrest. So far my favorite little Easter Egg is the little notch on the charging cap that allows you to hang it on the door
