Making the car easier to clean

This car sure gets dirty quickly. It is hard to avoid flat-backed cars getting dirty, yes, but as the sides of the car slope in at the bottom, car washes leave them dirty. This would benefit from a rethink.

    Unintended acceleration collision

The accident reminds me of one I nearly had, when I'd had the car for a couple of weeks. When driving slowly out of a multi-storey car-park and about to turn a corner, I briefly pushed down on the accelerator when I needed to brake. Still getting used to the car, and being insufficiently mindful...

Knowing what you know now. Would you do it all over again?

I've had my i3 Rex for 5 weeks now, and done 1300 miles. No problem and love the car. Note I live in the UK, though, not in the US with the restrictions on the Rex.

    Electron-guzzling driving

Just a thought. Yes the i3 is a nice car to drive. But most electricity generating still spews out co2, so fast acceleration and driving over 70 mph is still harmful to our shared home, this planet. What is the big rush? Enjoy being in the i3 for a little longer before reaching your destination ...

UK Order August for December delivery?

I ordered my REx on 22nd April. Was due in first week of November until I added Harman-Kardon sound system, when it moved to mid-September.

    Acronym list needed

A lot of acronyms are used on this list - KLE etc - a list to remind or inform people what they all mean would be useful.

    Has anyone got a fault-free i3?

That is good to hear, Brian. :) Let's hope there are plenty of other positive replies to my inquiry. In general, I guess that it is people who have been having problems that have been more likely to post, so the overall impression from reading posts can be somewhat daunting.

    Chager Problems

Does the temporary fix to the failing in-car charger, that reduces the charge-rate, mean that you can't use fast and rapid chargers - especially the ones at some motorway service areas that are supposed to charge the car (to 80% charge) in 30 minutes. Peter UK

    Has anyone got a fault-free i3?

I've been looking forward to the delivery of my i3 REX in early November, and just received the good (?) news it will come in late September. Yet I've read so many posts here about faults with the car, I'm starting to get a little nervous. It will be our only car, and I don't want to have to...

    RExes in existence

Peter: Fair point, Brian! - I realised this after posting, so re-edited my post. Good to see that at least you can get 50 mpg from the REx motor at 65 mph. On my non-plug-in Prius, I averaged 62 mpg over 3 years. PS do you live in Durham City, as I do, or elsewhere in County Durham...

    RExes in existence

35 mpg (US)/ 42 mpg (UK) for the REx is not really so 'sweet'. Petrol & diesel cars can reach up to 80 mpg (UK), if not at 71mph. While I have a REx on order, my current Prius Plug-in hybrid has a year-round average of 93 mpg (UK) (perhaps 78 mph excluding the electric input). Of course the...

Best speed to engage range extender

Yes, my apologies for overlooking the fact that the electric motor still drives the wheels when the range extender motor is running. Your point that the REx operates best under high load is the crucial point, but as this includes 'high speed freeway driving', it seems to me that there is still...

Best speed to engage range extender

Yes, Brian, I meant maximum range. Of course I now realise that the range with the range extender running is still dependent on the range-according-to-speed dynamics of the electric motor. However, the range extender engine will be less efficient at lower speeds, so this remains a factor too...
