    December i3 deals

I ended up getting a base REX because no BEV were available by the time I was ready. A few thoughts: backup camera would be nice but the base model has sensors tech package seemed like a must but I realized most of the time I'll be using Waze on my phone so I skipped it Tera package is super...

    Some pre-purchase questions

Parking sounds useful. The small screen on the base navigation unit bothers me, so the tech package seems nice, but I realize that most of the time I'll be navigating with Waze on my phone vs the stock nav, so it doesn't seem like a must have.

    i3 battery warranty and CPO

I know that the i3 batteries are 10/100k warranty and also that CPO extends factory warranty by CPO for 1 year and unlimited. This is unlikely but I'm curious - if I buy a car with 45k miles still under warranty, and happened to pass 100k while CPO is still active, would CPO cover the batteries...

    Some pre-purchase questions

Yeah it's funny I had noted that in a review 3 years ago, forgot about that! Definitely want the HK.

    December i3 deals

I'm on the fence whether to go new or CPO, so thought I'd share what I've seen so far. New 2017: $9500 in lease cash available can also add if eligible: - $1000 recent graduate - $2000 existing i3 owner - $2000 off purchase or $1000 off finance or $500 off lease (USAA) Sales discounts average...

    Lease confusion on rebate

Yes, this is pretty well known. 30 mo lease is the minimum for the CA state rebate.

    Some pre-purchase questions

Thanks Jim. One more - how much of a ride difference is there with the 20" vs the 19" wheels?

    Good deal on 2017 REX?

Seems like your payment should be lower than that. Rebates, money factor and residual are set. Negotiate the purchase price and check their math.

    Some pre-purchase questions

Last time around when shopping, I liked the i3, but the lease rates were more than double those for the Fiat 500e, so I went with the latter. That's still the case, but now that my lease is almost up, I'm again exploring all options. I've got 2ish months left, but may benefit from getting...

Good dealership to lease from in San Diego

Highest discount off MSRP I am seeing is close to $7000. That puts me in a lease quote of $5353 down and payment is $360 including the tax. That's on a 36mo/10k lease. Seems high.

Rear fog light: A simple question for non-U.S. i3 drivers

It is very likely LED, and already built into the panel. This is likely why the coding is required.

    First impressions

I'm in California and it's practically summer (20C), so 63 miles is somewhat underwhelming.

    First impressions

Thanks. I'm a bit surprised that on a full charge I am only seeing 63 miles estimated on battery (comfort, drive it like you stole it). With the software fixes unlocking the full gas tank capacity, what's the REX range?

    Make the key smaller!

Key on the 2015 is said to be different, let's see if it's any smaller.

    First impressions

I'm doing another test drive from a different dealer who had a model with the 19s. The 20" wheels do indeed make for a much harsher ride. After back to back drives in the Volt and i3, the i3 has far better steering, but the Volt is still the more comfortable vehicle for extended highway...

    bmw apps

There's an iphone app for the i3. Is it only available with the $2500 tech/driving assist package? From playing with the 2015 config at bmwusa.com, it appears that way. I can no longer access the 2014 configs.

    First impressions

Returned the i3 and got back in my Volt tonight. Power is definitely less. Suspension is more compliant (more comfortable ride, more predictable response over bumps). Steering feels much lighter in the Volt. Do I miss the i3? I'm not totally sure. I rechecked the tire pressures in the i3 and...

What should be target discount on 2014-proposal included

Doc fee is ridiculous. CA caps it at $80.

    First impressions

Don't need sustained highway performance, but as you know SF Bay Area traffic can go from a 5mph parking lot to 75mph sustained depending on time of day.

    First impressions

Front pressures are much lower than rear - I assume that's due to the sizes. Side to side were comparable and in the normal range I think. I will recheck. Keep in mind I used to have a 335d with Msport, so I am used to a stiff ride. This is harsh, not just stiff, with occasional bump steer.
