Who can you trust? Yourself. Test drive one and make up your own mind. There have been other reports that say it drives fantastic. This guy even said it handles better than a Tesla Model S:

I drove the i3 and I am not at all agreeing with him. I couldn't try it on a track at high speed, but it handles really well on a cone track... Really maniable, good acceleration, that's what I remember...

I might not be really objective, but this journalist is not either in my opinion.
