Rex start-up in cold weather

It is very flat here on the prairies so I don’t think I will have a problem with when the Rex cuts in [from the highest rooftop in Winnipeg I can see the curve of the earth for the full 360°]. I may have a problem with its' cold weather starting capabilities though. It has been in the -30C temps here for over a week now. Does anyone know if the electric motor warms up the engine bay enough for the Rex to start after driving a moderate distance?
 
I wouldn't worry too much about that, for the reasons you mentioned.

I would, and am, worried about cold weather range -- the cabin heating is a huge drain on battery power.
And there doesn't seem to be any reviews of the i3 in -20 or -30 C temps…

Not sure what range you can expect in -30 at 120 kph on the highway… probably less than 80 km.
