    "No signal" error

Happy New Year! Has anyone seen the "No signal" error message in big red letters? Yesterday, I stopped at a traffic light and the centre console went blank and the error message "No signal" popped up in big red letters. The system seems to reboot itself, as the BMW logo with blue background...

    Question on battery capacity

Does the hidden menu 13.08 "Batt. Kapa. max" show the usable battery size or the full capacity? I snoop around today, and found mind only got 16.7 kWh! From 18.8 kWh, that would be a 11% degradation after only 1.5 year use. Should I get ready for a warranty claim?

    GOM range algorithm

It is suggested that the GOM uses the last 18 miles to calculate the range. This certainly doesn't work for me. Does the 18-mile algorithm work for anyone? As an example, I travelled 32 km (19.9 miles) since the last full charge. It is now at 78%. If the calculation is based on last 18...

    Charging rate using ChargePoint EVSE

There are quite a few Charge Point EVSE in my town. Most of them are 6.6 kW per port, and a few of them are sharing 6.6 kW between the two port. From the ChargePoint app and the Chargepoint web site, I can see my car always drawing less than 6 kW. As i3 has a 7.2 kW onboard charger, just...

BMW Installed The Wrong Fast-Charge Port On My i3

http://insideevs.com/op-ed-bmw-installed-wrong-fast-charge-port-i3/ Being in British Columbia, next to Washington state, I have the same feeling too. There are plenty of CHAdeMo and Tesla Supercharger, but no CCS in sight. All the "Coming Soon" fast chargers show up in Plugshare are all...

    West Coast Electric Highway

I emailed AeroVironment and asked if they would upgrade their DCFC charger along i5 (aka West Coast Electric Highway) to support CCS and blow is their reply. I guess it would be awhile before pacific NW has fast chargers for i3 ------- Oregon and Washington have limited funds for...

    Map update

Any one know if and how i3 will get GPS map updates? I found the GPS map is not up-to-date in my area. ...missing a few newer (in use for a few years now) roads and asked me to turn to a junction that no longer exist.

    CHADEMO adapter

While there is another thread debating whether using DC Fast charging often would damage the battery or not, in my part of the world CCS Combo DC fast charging is non-existence. The closest one is 500 km away in Portland, or 4,300+ km away in Toronto - if I don't have my passport with me...

    Automatic mirror unfolding

Well, i3 is smart enough and won't let me fold in side mirrors when it is in motion. Then why i3 won't automatically unfold mirrors, once I put the car in gear and drive away?!?!? :?: Other car makers have option to fold and unfold mirror automatically, when car is locked/unlocked or power up.

Check Control - Big red Triangle with !

While driving today, The Check Control symbol (big red Triangle with an ! inside) popped up on the instrument display. I went to Vehicle Status and it said all system okay. The ! warning then went away on its own. I called concierge, but they said they can't see any vehicle warning real time...

    Shopping with i3

For future reference, from the windscreen to the tailgate is 10 ft-almost. Went to shopping for parts to install EVSE, this afternoon. The 10 ft pvc electric conduit is just a hair too long for the i3. Luckily it is flexible. I was able to bend the conduit and close the tailgate. :P...

Same EVSE model different charge rate

I am one of those lucky one have access to multiple EVSE at the workplace. I notice that not all EVSE charges at the same rate. They are all the same model (Eaton level 2 240V 30A) side by side (same environment). For example, yesterday my car was at 50% (from BMWi app). With one EVSE, my...

    Most energy efficient travelling speed

We know "highway speed" drains power very quickly. Is there a "sweet spot" on speed that is most efficient? 30 mph? 55 mph?

    Strange charging screen

Hi, Just got my i3 yesterday. :) Took it out for a spin and tried out different charging stations. In one of the stations that I tried, it is an AeroVironment Level 2 charging stations. My i3 showed 7 minutes to fully charge (from just over 50%), and this screen changed between 7 min to 10...

Do you charge your i3 everyday?

Just wondering is it good for the battery life-span to have it charge every day? Or better to let it drain and then top up?

    Heavy duty floor mats

Anyone uses heavy duty floor mats in their i3? With the amount of rain in my area, rubber mat is a must have. The BMW's "All-weather floor mats" look very flimsy. Found this one in weathertech.com, anyone have this one? http://www.weathertech.com/bmw/2014/i3/floorliner-digitalfit/

    Battery charge limit

I'm a yet-to-be i3 owner. Can i3 set a charge limit like in Tesla? I understand that Tesla recommends charging battery up to 80% for normal use to slow down battery degradation. B Class ED's "optional range package" seems to do the same thing.
