I believe it is the infamous hold the connector upwards till communication established between EVSE and i3. The Menekkes connector does not fit snugly unlike the CCS connector. You can "jiggle" it after plugging it into the car.

It certainly works. An idiot cut into my lane in a queue situation and the brakes came on automatically just before I got my foot to the brakes pedal. I would have been able to stop in time but the system reacted faster than me.

I was under the impression that the CCS combo charger is the agreed standard for all of Europe.

Last week did Birmingham to London and back. On the way down charged in Corley, Milton Keynes and London Gateway. Then back via Beaconsfield and Warwick. More than 200 miles using not a drop of petrol!

Vaguely remember reading about using the HV battery in the car as a backup power supply during blackouts. I suppose this means a special function on the EVSE where power is going in reverse compared to when it is charging the car. Is there such a beast?

Not true. I ordered in mid September and the car arrived at the dealer end of January. Just over 4 months. Maybe I got lucky.

Wanted to know the pricing. Called number given by OP. Spoke to a salesman (?) who was very eager to sell one. Wanted to email me a list of available cars. Finally got the figures from him. Starting prices from £25k. Works out to about 10% depreciation after one year.

Cost for a complete set is just over £1000 compared to just over £400 for the tires. Not sure about the mounting/dismounting charges. Of more concern are the sensors. I believe they are in the valves. In my previous cars anytime the tires are changed the valves need to be changed at the same...
